We left around 8am and arrived 4 hours later after walking 20 km approximately. We got lost twice, once in a forest and were lucky we had Google maps working for us.

Our plan to walk along the Rhine has not been possible so far because there are no walking tracks along some of the way. We have to cut inland in places. This should be better Ina day or so.

We may have caught a local train from Godorf to Wesseling which saved us about 3 km, but we felt that made up for the extra distances we went when we were lost. We did not work out how to pay for the train. But we did not get caught!

The weather turned nasty about mid morning but we did not get too wet.

We are proud of ourselves for making it this far today, especially with Michael piggy backing “William” and me “Harry”. That is what we have nick named our back packs as they weigh about the same as our grandsons.

We had prebooked a hotel on the Rhine in Wesseling and enjoyed a hot shower and the views from our room which are much the same as those enjoyed by the people travelling in the expensive ferries.
