Assmannshausen Excursion

We took a day’s excursion from Rudesheim to Assmannshausen which is famous for its red wine.

We caught a funicular to a lookout and then walked through the woods to a chairlift down to the town. It was very quiet everywhere today. One or two tour groups only. All the cafes and restaurants were empty.

We enjoyed a glass of the local red wine, similar to a Pinot Noir and ordered a typical German lunch. See separate post about the lunch if interested.

We then caught the ferry back to Rudesheim. We were the only passengers. We were told by the staff that the busy time is in Autumn.

We did not mind. Off to Frankfurt tomorrow.
