After our hostess left for her holiday at midday, Michael and I walked 1.5 miles into town on mostly signed walking paths from the little farm and had lunch at the Ship Inn in the main street in Tenbury Wells. Because it was Friday 13th there were extra choices on the menu.
Michael chose the liver and bacon with leek mash and vegetables and I had a park sandwich on brown bread with seasoning and chips – just over £12. We both really enjoyed our choices.
Michael also got to taste his first local cider- a pint of Robinsons Flagon Cider, which is poured from a tap and I tried a local ale – Wye Valley Brew (3.8%).
After lunch we went to the shops and filled our small backpacks with some groceries and trekked home. It was a bit harder up the hills after lunch and with our bags full, but we made it before the rain started.
Actually, Michael was able to finish mowing the yard he started yesterday before the rain started to fall again.
Our hostess cooked us a huge baked pork roast complete with parsnips and cauliflower in white sauce last night, and there is quite a lot left over. Bubble and squeak will be on the menu tomorrow for us.
