Today we walked along the Mosel River using the dedicated bike and walking trail to the small village of Klotten. Advertised as a quaint wine growing village complete with its own castle ruins. It did not disappoint.
It was only 4 km from Cochem, but all up we walked about 10 km.
We had a brief look around the little village before catching the “punt” for €1 each across to the other side of the river. We then walked about 5 km through a camping ground, a thick vegetated area with lots of wild blackberries (unfortunately the berries we not ripe) and another suburb of Cochem where there was a flea market being held today. The market consisted of four people each with a table and a pile of second hand goods. A bit like the garage sale I held a few weeks before we left Dubbo. Oh dear!
We then enjoyed our packed lunch on the banks of the Mosel, but this time there was no wine for me.
