We had heard that Bernkastle was a village not to be missed, so we spent our last day in Germany travelling on a ferry to this little town. 60km each way from Trier.
The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the 8 hour trip. There were two locks each way. One was the biggest on the Mosel. It changed the height of the river by 9 metres.
We behaved ourselves and did not start to drink wine until lunchtime. Other people started as soon a they got on the boat at 9.30am. But, they did sip their wine very slowly (it must have been terribly hot / warm by the end of it.
We enjoyed a glass of wine in a very nice wine bar during our two hour stay in the village.
Michael is finally sick of ferries BUT not Germany. We look forward to coming back.
