Day Trip to Bruges

We caught the train to Bruges for the day. It took about one hour, and in and around the residential areas there was so much graffiti for us to view during our ride.

However, Bruges was beautifully clean, well organized and picturesque. So much to see right in the middle of the town. We spent a few hours exploring the city on foot then took a one hour Segway Tour which took us to other places we would not have thought to go to. For example, the oldest operating pub in the country – except Mondays %¥! It was built in 1515. We also saw old residential areas where workers who were part of the guilds lived, supported by the wealthier people, an old Jesuit seminary and church, and the last remains of the original wall of the city.

We loved the ride on the segways. Michael now wants to buy one.

Thank goodness it was much cooler today (by about 8°C).
