London to Ottawa

The 7 hour flight was mostly smooth. The staff was excellent. Getting used to having all information provided in both English and French. Luckily Michael and I slept for a good part of the trip.

The cold is breathtaking. I found Heathrow Airport cold. I guess the spaces were too big to warm. I needed the big coat I borrowed from Lita, our Canadian daughter-in-law. The first photo was taken outside Heathrow Airport early in the morning.

We caught a taxi from Ottawa Airport to our accommodation where we met up with Edward. Wonderful to see him after 6 months.

We explored the area around our apartment – the Byward Market sells just about everything. Fish is so cheap and for the last two nights we have eaten salmon and trout as well as different kinds of oysters. You buy these in their shells and they are sold separately for different prices based on where they are found. We also bought the ‘garden’ variety pack of 33 for $20 and even after we ate about 10, there were 39 left over for another day.

There is ice along the road edges and footpaths but so far we have been lucky there is no wind. The photo was taken about 11am in the market area.

We plan on going to a museum tomorrow before meeting up with some of Edward’s friends for a beer and dinner.
