FINAL ENTRY FOR 2013 HOLIDAY Dover Castle

It took us just over 30 minutes to drive to Dover Castle from Holt Lodge. The sun was shining, but when we got out of the car it was freezing. Our picnic lunch was a disaster, not so much because of the cold wind, more to do with the fact that while we are getting ready to go on our day excursion , the dogs found our lunch and really enjoyed it. Michael had cooked a ham hock and I had packed some cheese and biscuits. The only thing they did not touch was the fruit!

It was my fault for not checking the door was locked!

The castle was well worth a visit. The were lots of interactive tours and actors dressed as key people of the time including King Henry II and Richard The Lion Heart who played their roles really well. We also toured some of the underground tunnels used in WWII.
