The four towns of Arcachon

The city is divided into four sections based on the seasons. The Summer city (Ville d’Ete) is the area where we are staying, while the Winter city (Ville d’Hiver) is above us where we walked to go to the Belevédère.

As today is our last day here, I was keen to look at the Autumn (Ville d’Automne) and Spring (Ville de Printemps) sections. However, this took us two hours of solid walking but we got to see so much of the city. There are some magnificent homes here.

At the heart of the Ville d’Automne is a large church and shopping area. It was a magnificent day and lots of people were starting to come out to eat at the many restaurants.

We walked though the town to get to this church (Notre Dame des Passes) built in 1864, but we returned along the beach.

We shouted ourselves a trip to the markets for more oysters and wine, to be followed by a quiet afternoon on the beach.
