Alice Springs – 24 hour stop over

Of course this is not enough time, but we are to pick up the campervan tomorrow at 10am and we must be back in Brisbane on 21 August.

It was very cold today in Alice Springs which I found hard to believe. I had booked us into a nice serviced apartment in town, thinking we might need this after our two nights in a backpackers and one on a train, and what a good idea. We have wonderful facilities and will have a BBQ for dinner around the pool.

The apartments are right across the road from the famous Todd River.

We found out today, that the 53rd Annual Henley-On-Todd will be held on Saturday, the day after we leave.

imageIt is a shame we are so close, but will have to miss it. But,I am sure there are other treats ahead for us.

We spent quite a lot of time today walking around the streets and parks of Alice Springs. There are lots more Aboriginal people here than we saw in Darwin. They are very traditional looking and speak in a language unfamiliar to us. Loads of artists are around and lots of artefacts for sale.

We spotted this garden of Sturt’s Desert Pea outside the local TV station.
