DAY 6 Miles to Toowoomba

Today was our shortest trip so far, only 221Km. That was because we had to travel further than we wanted to yesterday.

We left Miles early and stopped in Chinchilla for a coffee. Here Michael saw a sign to Jandowie that brought back some very old memories for him. His grandmother lived out on a property called Billabong on the Condomine River near Jandowie when he was young, and his parents would travel there each year to spend time with Kath’s mum and stepfather Ned Wilkes. Later they moved from Billabong to a home in the small village of Warra. Michael was sure this was the house.

And was absolutely certain this was where Ned took them for a raspberry cordial while he had a ‘pony’.

After a shower and a rest, we started walking to Maree and Darryl’s for dinner and we heard a horn beep at us. We ignored this of course, but it turned out to be Maree who gave us a lift.

We posed for a photo early in the night, which proved to be a good idea.

Fabulous catching up with them both.
