We visited the Shanghai Museum in the morning. A very extensive collection of Chinese bronze and pottery, jade and furniture. Some of the items dated back to 10C BC. Hard to believe the Chinese were making such amazing art, weapons and utensils that were so cleverly crafted well before any other civilisation. The visit was free and as we were there early we had easy access to displays. Loads of guards working there. As the morning progressed it became very busy with tour groups.
We found a Tea House near to our hotel we had spotted yesterday and ordered a Green Tea set. It was quite expensive- 138RMB each or approx. $29. We did enjoy it though. The pickled quail eggs were delicious and the packets of treats had us guessing as to what they were.
Our slow walk back to our hotel, along the streets we walked on Day 1 dragging our bags, provided some interesting sites. The street food looked and smelt delicious. Lucky we were not hungry.
