Salted cod is a local staple here. We tasted some on our first day as part of the tapas meal. It is quite chewy and I was not a big fan. However, used in this form – salted cod fritters with loads of mashed potato and parsley with a surprise of some sort of cheese in the middle, it was delicious.

This restaurant – Pastel de Bacalhau is famous in Lisbon. Located on Rua Augusta, you can watch them being made before you buy one.

I am sure you get the idea that Mick thought it was quite delicious.

That stop was part of a “progressive lunch”. Our next stop was our favourite pastelaria where we had coffees and pastries. I had a rock cake, but I do not know what was in it or what it was called. I could taste cinnamon. Mick chose a ham and cheese croissant and was a little disappointed that it had a sweet topping. Never mind.

Just around the corner from our street …..

Mick found a barber shop. He was able to negotiate a great price for the best haircut he’s ever had that included a close shave and a shampoo for €5.

Tonight is our last one in Lisbon and we are planning on eating at a local family restaurant nearby.
