Day 8 on the Murray

Like Day 1, most of today was spent on land.

We safely returned the boat to the Marina where we left it clean and tidy and denuded of most of the food and almost all of the alcohol. We tried our best, but we just couldn’t do it in the end. Probably, just as well.

We caught a maxi taxi to the railway station in Echuca; a very cute station with good facilities. We were able to leave our bags in lockers and walked into town for a coffee and to wile away a few hours before our bustrip to Bendigo.

We caught a train from Bendigo to Melbourne and checked into our hotel across the road from Southern Cross Station. Derek and Helen went to their favourite restaurant nearby and we went to David and Myrna’s for a scrumptious meal cooked by David. It was great to catch up with D & M as they are great travellers and had some good tips to share with us.

Today we fly home via Brisbane. Bernie is to collect us and Derek and Helen and take us safely back to Pelican Waters.

To those of you who have read the blog – Thank you. This will be my last post for awhile as we have no more trips planned until 2016.
