Tautavel Day Trip #2

You may remember we visited Tautavel on 30th November and were disappointed the second human history museum was closed. Today we went a different way to the village, hoping we’d find somewhere for lunch in Tautavel before the museum opened at 2pm.

What a road!

We stopped the car and had a closer look at the river filled with huge boulders that had fallen from the cliffs.

The water was so clear, Mick was spotting fish from 100m. 🐟

We had such a great drive today and found a perfect spot for lunch. It was an auberge / pizzeria – located just near the road signs in this photo.

Mick ordered a pizza with anchovies and I had a vegetarian one (sans fromage).

I know they look huge, but we managed very well, washed down with the right liquids.

This beer is made with chestnut flour. A first for Mick.

Now to the museum- it kept us busy for over an hour with its comprehensive displays of the history of Tautavel Man.

We were surprised as we exited the museum through its gift shop when we spotted wine for sale. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been; just about every shop sells wine.

Can you spot Mick?

And here?
