As promised, we ventured back to the Augustiner-Keller Biergarten to have a ‘ taste’ of Oktoberfest. Yes, we where about a month early.

This year, Oktoberfest will start on 16 September and finish on 3 October. (? This surprised me. Why is it not called Septemberfest?)

We enjoyed watching the waiters and waitresses, dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes, juggle the huge steins and trays of food.

We found a very helpful prop – the menu translated into English.

Sadly, our waitress was very grumpy- but she did look very nice in her outfit. 😄

My dear mum always said, “Don’t say anything if you can’t say something nice”.

Mick of course picked the ham hock in beer sauce with sauerkraut and potato dumpling.

I selected some side dishes, which were delicious.

Mick enjoyed his very much. Can you see what was the ‘weakest link’?

On the way home we stopped at very cool bar – and had a night cap. My wine glass (filled with French wine) was huge.

A perfect end to a great day.
