Munich to Housesitting in Pilsach Bavaria

Yesterday we caught a FlixBus from the Munich bus station (ZOM) to Nuremberg. A trip of just under 170 Km which took 2.5 hours.

I had booked the tickets months ago for the cost of €6.20 each. That is so cheap. In comparison, we paid double that to get us from Munich Airport into Munich city when we arrived.

We were met by our pet owner who drove us to the quaint village where she lives near Pilsach; there we were introduced to the pets and their routines.

One of our jobs is to “muck out” the stables twice a day and then load the manure onto this truck.

This is a relic from the GDR (German Democratic Republic) and is used to tip the manure on to a nearby field once it’s full. We won’t need to do that during our stay as it will be emptied this evening.

We’re pretty confident we can manage what is expected, but we must remember to watch the horses at all time – just because of their sheer size. I certainly don’t want to have to get them back home were they to escape.

The collie is so friendly and has so much energy. She would have us play fetch all day if she could.

This is how she spends every 15 metres or so of our morning ‘walkies’; waiting for us to throw her a stick.

The surrounding area is beautiful.

Last evening we were the special guests at a BBQ hosted by the pet and home owners. It was so pleasant and thoughtful to give us an opportunity to meet people we may need to call later for advice.

This morning, our hostess took us on a tour of the closest towns and villages and discussed loads of possible excursion ideas for us while we’re here. We enjoyed lunch in Neumarkt in a beer garden, and will go out for dinner tonight. I will be the driver this evening, so I can learn some of the features of the car they are loaning us. Again, a very generous offer.

They will head off early tomorrow morning and we will then be “in charge”. I’m always a little anxious about that, but I’m sure we’ll be fine.
