We were booked on the last flight out of Vienna tonight – 11.30pm – with Austrian Airlines to Bangkok.

After a big day sightseeing we heading to the metro to get to the airport.

All the research has said use the CAT – City Airport Transfer.

Excellent advice.

What we didn’t know as we headed down the escalator to catch this from Wien Mitte was that we could book into our flights there.

I noticed a sign for Austrian Airlines and asked if we could book in.

No line up.

Nothing.

And the answer was yes.

We are hoping our bags actually make it to Bangkok.

We arrived at the airport with loads of time to spare and nothing to do except enjoy a bottle of Austrian red wine.

It was delicious and came with an interesting stopper.

We’d never seen anything like it before.

Perhaps we haven’t travelled enough.

A good excuse anyway to start planning the next trip.
