Fayence Markets

I thought you might like to see where we are staying in France.

The small blue dot is the location of the house where we are staying, not too far from Antibes. Our goal is to travel to many of the smaller neighbouring villages, avoiding any major roads, during our three week stay.

As Mick and I really enjoy visiting local markets, we are planning some of our trips around the days these are to be held.

Today there were some being held in the nearby town of Fayence, the same location where we collected the car, but the markets are held in the old part of the town, which involved quite a steep climb. We were glad we did not have to walk it.

This screen shot shows the smaller communes nearby as well.

Can you spot Tourettes to the east of Fayence?

Mick was keen to visit Tourettes which we did briefly. It was tiny, and when Mick started to swear and behave badly I knew that was enough for him. Sensitivity is not his greatest strength. Thank heavens he has many others.

Fayence has a quaint town centre and the markets were held in the square just in front of the church.

It was well shaded at the market and the stalls were beautifully displayed.

There were some picturesque streets near to the market, which we explored before shopping at the local Cave (pronounced karv), where we bought honey and a local Provence red wine.

On the way back to the great park I’d found for us, we spotted this charging station for electric cars.

A first for us.

Only issue for me in this part of France is that one of the major signature products of Provence is lavender – one of the only things I know of that badly affects me. So, I had to rush past a few of the stalls that were selling lavender products.

The animals were happy to see us when we returned.

A bit too happy!!

The goose is definitely not allowed inside.
