What a difference a day makes.
This morning our dream holiday / house sit took a turn for the worse. We were almost back to the car after our 3km walk and as we rounded the final bend we noticed, too late I might add, a mountain biker powering along the rocky road towards us. The big male dog decided to attack and in fact he did bite the poor bike rider. We tried in vain to call the dog, but he ignored us and the bike rider did not stop for us to check if he was ok or to allow us to apologise. I guess he was too frightened and shocked.
We headed home, everyone shaken up a little, but after breakfast we left the animals behind as we headed off to the village of Lorgues on our planned excursion for the day.

This cute village has fewer than 9000 inhabitants, but today I’m sure there were 9000 tourists. It was a bit too busy for us.
We had gone there for the markets. Again. And, many of the stall holders we’d seen at other markets. It was quite a walk to get to the produce stalls but we eventually did find them and bought what we needed.

It was so busy we had to be careful not to get lost.

Lots of French accents, of course, but the next most common we heard was German.
We both wished we’d visited this little village on a day other than market day.
We found a good park as we’d left early, and after some searching, we found a cool spot for morning tea near this fountain.

I’ve noticed this sign a few times now, and while I guessed what it was, I had to check with Google translate.

Any guesses?
Just as we arrived at Lorgues I received a text message from our host asking us if her big dog had bitten a bike rider that morning. She had received a message from a neighbour telling her what had happened. Now we both felt really bad. I had every intention of telling her as I was certain she’d know the biker, but I was going to leave it for a day or two. Mistake.
We found out late last evening that the rider is ok. He did not need to go to the doctor but he is very cranky. I don’t blame him. No more off-the-lead walks for him from now on.
