At the end of each house sit, there is a lot to be done. This weekend has been no different.
Our first job yesterday was to refuel the hire car so we can return it first thing tomorrow morning. We don’t pass any service station on our way to the supermarket we hired it from. Did I mention that before? It is called SuperU and was very reasonably priced. We had to do fewer than 1500Km over our three weeks, and we did. We used it almost every day, but there was no need to venture too far from home.
Next job was getting all the animals sorted. Here that involved washing the dog bedding, cleaning out the chook pen, and washing the gooses’s pond.

She was pretty pleased with Mick’s efforts.
Then there was the pool.
Mick vacuumed it last thing so it will look sparkling when the owners’ children want their next swim. Probably tomorrow.
This is a very big home – five bedrooms, two studies and three bathrooms. Not that we used all those rooms, but the dogs did. So, we spent quite a bit of time vacuuming and mopping the house. The dogs were not too pleased about that as it meant they needed to stay outside for a big chunk of the day. Dogs do lose a lot of hair!!!
Mick tried to brush some of it out before this guy brought it inside. He didn’t seem to mind.

Mick neither.
We usually like to prepare a meal for our family for our last evening.
As they won’t be home until midnight, Mick and I decided we’d make a lasagne, usually as delicious reheated,

and a macaroon syrup cake.

Hopefully they can enjoy them both tomorrow.
We’ve enjoyed our time here very much, but we’re now looking forward to the next part of our holiday.
We fly from Nice to Rennes tomorrow.
The map shows that we’re pretty much crossing the whole of France – not by car as the image shows, but on an Air France flight. It’ll be much quicker than driving.

We are heading towards our next house sit in Bourn, just outside of Cambridge UK. We must be there ready to start on Friday afternoon.
We have a few interesting places to visit and people to see before we start in Bourn.
I’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, we ended the evening with a bottle of the best wine so far.

We bought this over a week ago at a local vineyard.
Fantastic.
