We had two bus trips booked for today.
I had paid £6 each for us, in May, to get us all the way to Cambridge on National Express buses. Definitely the cheapest way to travel in the UK.
The first one left and arrived on time. We were in London by midday expecting a 30 minute wait for our connection.
But, the timetable had been changed without any notice and our wait time was 90 minutes.
It is very hard to drag out how long it can take to drink a cup of coffee just so you can have a comfy seat.

But we did.
Our total travel time today took 6 hours. A bit more than Google Maps predicted.
The traffic was horrendous as we drove through the centre of London.

There were a lot of roadworks and quite a few diversions, some due to the terrorist scare near Parliament a few days ago. We travelled 12km in the first hour.
It did give us a chance to see some of the sights as we crawled through the streets, despite the drizzling rain.

We were very excited about catching up with our son this evening in Cambridge.

We hadn’t seen him since January when he was home, and tonight we went out for dinner and caught up with some of his friends.
A great night.
I phoned our host to confirm our arrival tomorrow at her home to meet the animals we will be caring for over the next two weeks.
Mick and I are looking forward to being ‘settled’ again for a chunk of time, and not having to pack and unpack our bags every day. Not that we’ve not enjoyed our last few days, but we really love house sitting.
Lucky!!
