Mick has been saying it for ages.……
.… he wants to live in France.
I assumed he meant with me.
So, we have decided to rent our home for two years and to give it a go.
We were only just back from our last European house sitting assignment and we had less than a week to pack up our home on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland so it could be ready for tenants to move in.
It was a big week, but we managed it.
We had lots of help from our son and daughter-in-law while we were away, as they organised a shipping container to be installed on their property so we could store our home contents.

The container was packed with very little space to spare, but it worked. Mick oversaw the unloading while I scrubbed our home ready for the tenants, who moved in 16 hours after we left.
We are now officially based at our son and daughter-in-law’s home, which we really appreciate, but we won’t be here for long.
With this in mind, I thought I’d change the focus of my blog posts from a report on our daily adventures – when Mick and I are overseas and house sitting – to a story about how to do what we are trying to do, i.e. live in France for 12 months. Others out there might be wanting to do exactly this.
We have been researching how we can live in France for a year and there are some hoops we have to jump through. I plan on documenting some of our trials and tribulations as we work our way through this.
