We are so lucky to have spent four months here during our “Year in France Adventure” – (December, January, February and October).
Fenouillet has been our ‘home away from home’. And as we leave, in the middle of Autumn, the colours of the Virginia Creeper on the side of our host’s home look amazing.
Can you spot the Cathar ruin in the background – Sabarda?
I took the next photo earlier this month – October. You can spot our host’s three-story home in the middle.

And this is how it looked back in January this year.

Although I did not get exactly the same angle, you can see how as we are leaving, all the trees are covered in leaves providing lots of privacy and shade during summer. And perhaps, Mick and I are leaving at the right time, because all those leaves are getting ready to drop and make a mess everywhere.
I think Sammy is going to miss Mick.
They have spent quite a few hours together in the warmth of the conservatory, while Mick mostly was reading. This book in particular he loved. So much, he read it twice. He has read many books by Stephen Clarke who writes in a comedic way about living in France, but this one describes the history of the relationship between the French and the English. Fascinating apparently.
We are unsure if we will ever be back to Fenouillet, but who knows. If we get the opportunity I am sure we will take it. But, we have met some wonderful people, and made some nice friends, who hopefully will visit us in Australia some time in the future.
Now it is time to move onto our tenth (and final) house sit in France in this adventure. It will be a first for us, sitting for a French person.
