Our flight went extremely smoothly – it took five and a half hours to travel almost 3800 Km. Mick was seated next to the window so he was able to capture some cool shots which he shared.

We enjoyed a very nice but simple meal – less fussy than before Covid. No bread rolls or desserts. We could enjoy our meal and drinks with our masks off, but once we were finished the masks had to be replaced. The Qantas staff was excellent. And the time went very quickly. We definitely felt like our holiday had started as we enjoyed a wine with our meal.

The screening process did not involve any temperature checks or health questions – as we had expected. We just needed to show our ‘G2G passes’ (which I’d applied for beforehand’) and our drivers’ licences. We were asked where we’d been in the previous 14 days and then were sent on our way. By the time that was done, our bags were waiting for us.
We decided that we would head straight for Fremantle on our arrival into Western Australia as we had spent three days in Perth a few years ago on our way home from the UK. While we enjoyed our stay in Perth, our plans for this three plus weeks in WA are to see as much as we can.
Our plan was to get an Uber – but obviously Fremantle was too far as we were allocated 5 different drivers before we gave up and caught a taxi. Yes, it was more expensive, but we made it. Our accommodation is right in the middle of of ‘old’ Fremantle, near the markets, and lots of breweries.

We did a small explore / pub crawl before heading back to our accommodation. We have a big day planned for tomorrow and the weather is looking great.
PS – I am struggling with this updated blog app and the uploading of photos. So apologies in advance.
