Travel Diary

I always make a diary for our long trips. And for this trip I am very pleased I did.

Some people travel with folders with all their bookings and key documents needed for their trip, many rely only on digital documents, but for me it’s the diary, and my laptop as a back-up with our plans summarised in a spreadsheet.

But when my laptop ‘died’ two weeks ago, the diary became more important.

Actually, essential.

While I assemble the diary before we leave, it is very much a joint effort during our trip.

I include tickets and visas etc. on the page where they might be needed, and on the dates that we change location I list how we get there and what our accommodation will be.

Mick is not the slightest bit interested in any of that by the way.

He documents his memories, often at my expense in the following way.

We both enjoy re-reading our holiday diaries from time to time to recall the wonderful experiences we’ve had together, often while we scroll through some of the photos I took. It makes the holiday last for a long time.

Thank you for joining us on this trip.

At this stage, our next adventure will be in early February next year when we travel to the South Island of New Zealand to taste the wines from the Central Otago Region. Hopefully Mick’s palate has recovered by then.

Cheers

  1. Hello Jane, Enjoyed it all, but thankfully at a distance as I couldn’t manage all that travel these days. Must admire your fortitude; that’s what you can do when you are younger.

How does Michael walk about in shirtsleeves and shorts in such cold weather?

Your older sister is getting over the after-effects of a fall she had in the garden a month ago. She has to attend for a change of dressing on a cut twice a week at the doctor’s, and now wears special stockings. This has not stopped her ramping up her parish work and telling off the priest (who is a dill). Someone should tell the pope that if there were more Suzannes he wouldn’t need a Synod, which was a futile exercise.

    Regards, Chris.
