Wesseling to Bonn via train

We enjoyed an easy trip on a local train from Wesseling to Bonn. Took less than 30 minutes and cost us €4.60 each. Fantastic as our feet are still a little sore.

We are staying at the Gunnerwig Residence Hotel, a short stroll from central station. It was fantastic as we could book in when we got here around 9.30am. This meant we could drop our backpacks and go exploring. We also enjoyed a swim and a sauna in their facilities.

Bonn is a beautiful city. We both like it better than Cologne. Today there was a market in the square and we shared a punnet of the freshest raspberries. We walked to the Rhine bank to find out about a boat trip but it does not look like this will work for tomorrow, so we will catch the train to Sankt Goar. The best walking trail along the Rhine starts around this location and we will do some more walking when we get there – weather permitting.

Bonn is famous as the birthplace of Beethoven. We went to the house where he was born in 1770. Quite amazing. There are lots of tourist and cultural sites dedicated to him.

We also saw the Munster and I have attached some photos that show some of the highlights in Bonn.

  1. Dear ane and Michael,
Great stuff – I could not open the photos above. Keep up the beer intake – you can never trust the water.
