We left Dubbo very excitedly early Monday morning and booked our luggage all the way through to London. Very proud of myself that I had booked our seats online and had the boarding passes printed.

First hiccup came when we got to customs. We were sent back to Cathay Pacific to get a boarding pass (which we had) and then we got through OK.

I was selected for a full body scan. At least I did not set it off with the pin in my shoulder, but it did not like my boots.

We found a very comfy spot to spend the few house until we were to board, only to notice the CANCELLED sign against our flight. Some technical issue. After an hour of waiting to hear what this meant, we were all given a $20 lunch voucher which we used wisely on red wine while we waited to hear if we were to stay overnight in Sydney.

A call to Air Canada confirmed that any changes would cost us £120 each plus the flight charge difference.

We were eventually told by Cathay Pacific staff we would be put up over night in a hotel (the Mercure Sydney Airport). Brought back memories of days spent here at conferences. We followed everyone through customs and duty free shopping (an experience as this was the opposite direction we are used to going) and caught a small transfer bus.

A text message advised us we would be flying out at 10am on Tuesday, but we are still unsure what this means about an arrival time in London. We must find this out first thing tomorrow so I can change up Air Canada flights.

Dinner and breakfast and accommodation on Cathay Pacific. Luckily we do not have any specific engagements to get to in Canada.

Back at Sydney Airport today ( Tuesday 11/12) and we are to fly out at 10am, giving us a longer wait in Hong Kong.

We were able to change our flights to Ottawa for a price of $629!
