After enjoying breakfast and a night at the Mercure on Cathay Pacific, we finally made our way through to Gate 27 to wait for our rescheduled flight CX 100D to board for a 10.00am departure. We got in touch with Air Canada and rebooked seats for Wednesday at just over $600, but consoled ourselves with the fact we would be on our way.
Things started to get suspicious when the crew got off the plane. We were told there were issues.
It looked very likely we would not be going anywhere.
Michael and I went and saw the staff and explained about our connecting flight from London to Ottawa and our already growing out-of-pocket expenses. Within the minute we were told to go to Gate 36 where a different flight for Hong Kong was boarding. The plane was delayed, but we eventually departed Australia at 12.30pm. We learnt that our rescheduled (original) flight was cancelled again, and we knew there would be people still stranded in Sydney. We felt pretty lucky.
The crew looked after us very well on our 9.5 hour flight to Hong Kong, and now we have landed we just need to occupy ourselves for the next 5hours until our flight to London.
We hope our luggage has kept up with our flight changes.
