Exploring Paris by foot and on the Metro

On our way to the Basilique du Sacré Coeur, we walked along the Boulevarde de Clichy until we came to the Moulin Rouge. We came here for a show seven years ago but only saw the area at night. It was very different at 8.30am. There were some very cute streets just behind this area with gorgeous fromageries, fruit shops, boulongeries and even seafood shops. Michael could not resist buying a croissant.

We got a real leg work out today climbing the steps to the Sacré Coeur. Climbing dozens of steps that gave us an amazing view of the city. Very different to the view from the Eiffel Tower.

It was pretty chilly today, and I am sure Michael was the only person in Paris today in shorts and thongs! But he did not complain.

We then headed for the Notre-Dame but only looked from the outside. The line up was huge and we decided there was no way we would wait.

Some of the fun went out of the day when Michael was pick pocketed on the Metro on our way to see the Salvidore Dali exhibition. We spent the rest of the afternoon cancelling cards.

C’est la vie!

  1. Love to hear about your travels. You know how to really see what has to be seen without following other tourist around. Sorry about the pick pocket.
