We walked around the main square (Rynek- once known as Adolf Hitler Platz) this morning and visited the Cloth Hall which housed many small shops selling amber jewellery, religious icons and wooden souvenirs. This building dates back many centuries but it has been refurbished over the years. The last time in 2010.
Michael is not checking out the religious icons here below. He had spotted some hand carved pipes for only $10. He resisted the temptation to buy.
St Mary’s Church has no single architecture style. It was commenced in the 13thC and added to in the 15thC. At 1pm when we were walking past we heard a bugle playing. Apparently this happens every hour on the hour, and tune stops mid melody in honour of a mythical trumpeter shot while warning the city of Mongol invaders.
In the centre of the market square is the Town Hall Tower, standing 70m tall. This is the only element of the 14thC town hall that remains.
There are loads of these travelling the streets filled with tourists.
We visited the Natural Museum that housed paintings from Polish artists from the 18th and 19thC. I snapped Michael outside before we went in. Unfortunately, when we were leaving there was a young man who had his head stuck in the hole.

Amazing any of those beautiful buildings survived really! What a gorgeous city.
