Wroclaw So Far

We are staying in the old city like we did in Kraków. This one is very different and shows heavy influences of German, and I am guessing Prussian influence (as I’ve not been there to definitely say so) in its food and architect.

There was a German festival underway in the market square when we arrived, so we decided to try some food for dinner. We both had bigos, which is basically sauerkraut and sausage. It looked better than it tasted.

We decided to try some of the local beers and wines as well. At one bar, if you bought a beer you got a lard sandwich as well.

Beer is popular with people of all ages, and after tasting the wine, we know why. Girls usually drink beer with a straw and may add a cherry or honey flavouring. Some men use a straw as well. Some groups buy a small keg of beer.

We walked along the Odra River banks this morning with the sun shining, it was very pleasant. We stumbled across a market hall, but only “window shopped”.

I found out in Kraków, that op (charity) shops sell the clothing by the Kg. I got a great deal on 250g of scarf and top. Cakes are also sold by the Kg.

Our apartment is right on the Rynek or Market Square. If you look behind the lamppost in this next picture, our flat is on Level 1 with the blue banners in the window advertising it for rent. It is very comfy.

By the sounds of last night and this morning’s noises, people love to party in Wroclaw.
