Well I am so glad I booked ‘Priority Boarding’ for our flight to London. Cannot remember why I did that when I booked the flights months ago. But well done Janie!
Priority Boarding on WIZZ Air meant we were at the front of the pack of 150+ people, ready to run to the plane to pick a seat. Like a handicapped race. All those who chose not to pay the 68ZL were at the back of the queue. This technique of boarding by WIZZ Air turns out to be very effective. I was sure we were going to be late because at 6.25pm we were all huddled in a downstairs room eyeing our plane off eagerly (which had only just landed and was being sort of cleaned) behind closed glass doors, trying to ignore the crying and upset children who had already had enough and we weren’t even on the plane yet, and our flight was supposed to leave at 6.30pm.
By 6.45pm we were in the air having heard the safety talk in both Polish and English and we were in Row 4. We were very happy, and as it turned out the flight was very good and we landed ON TIME.
We managed our bus, train, tube travel really well and arrived at our apartment at 9.45pm. Now it did not look like this on the website.
But, seriously we knew it was a work in progress and the flat is fantastic.
It has a washing machine and a bathtub. Oh how you miss these luxuries when you are travelling. I think Michael was happier about the English TV, but I am delighted. And, we have a bed – not a sofa to sleep on.
It was odd waking this morning and hearing Polish accents outside our door and windows and ceilings etc. The workers on this site all sound as if they were the people we caught the plane with last night.
With the sun shining, we headed off, armed with our Oyster Card we bought last night, to meet Edward for coffee at Caffé Torelli near Kew Gardens Station at 11 am, making one slight detour to a charity shop to drop off the jacket I bought in Columbier, France for €3.
