Unsure what is happening with our accommodation bookings. When we turned up to our apartment in London, it was covered in scaffolding and was a working building site. This morning our hotel in Singapore looked like this.

We are staying at the J8, which is actually a new (budget) hotel and is clean and comfortable. Yesterday’s breakfast twist with the chocolate ice cream was nothing on today’s. We were told that this morning’s breakfast was chicken burgers. It was interesting watching all the guests’ reactions when they were told. Lots of little giggles, no one wanting to be rude. And most of us ate the burger and chips. I was greeted with an odd look when I asked for a knife and fork until they spotted my braces. Ice cream was offered again as the second course. We can’t wait to see what is on offer tomorrow.

TAKEAWAY COFFEE AND DRINKS
– this is a brilliant idea. Someone left theirs on the dock at HarbourFront this morning. We have seen this before in Asia, much less packaging than a paper cup. We have not tried one yet. So unsure if they keep the drinks hot.

MRT
Not sure what that really stands for, but it is the underground railway. It is brilliant and so clean and air conditioned and on time and ….clean! (I know I mentioned that but it is so different to what we experience at home and definitely different to the systems in Paris and in London). This is one of the stations. When the train pulls up exactly at an opening on the platform, the doors open and people wait until others are off before hopping on. There are reserved seats for the elderly or pregnant women and people will NOT sit on these unless they fit the description.

We did venture to HarbourFront this morning but this is as close as we got to the cable car.
