We made it on time to Madrid Airport to be told our plane would be delayed almost three hours. We were worried as we knew our connection time in Abu Dhabi was less than that but we were told there would be no problem.
But, there was.
After a great flight to Abu Dhabi we were met by Etihad staff explaining we had missed our flight to Brisbane and we had been rebooked on a flight tomorrow evening.
Etihad had organised a great hotel in the city with a chauffeur to and from the hotel plus all meals.
While we may not have a change of clothes and the temperatures will be in the mid to high forties, we are off to explore this city!
Pretty lucky.
