This was our destination for today in a small community called Ansignan.

Quite spectacular with the olive grove in the foreground. The Romans built this 170m long construction over the Agly River. We were told it was still operating but saw no evidence of that even when we got up closer.
I thought about walking out across it a short way to get a better photo, but there was too much mud and slime and I had the car keys so Mick would have had no way home if I fell.
We heard voices below us and spotted two people harvesting olives. The elderly man was up a ladder using a short handled rake to break them off. They had dozens more trees to go. 😮

We went for a walk through the village to find a cafe and / or a boulangerie, but we’re disappointed. Except the streets and the views were wonderful.

I then drove on through three more small villages until we reached one called Bélesta. Still no cafes but we successfully made a booking for lunch on the 14th December at Riberach – a Michelin Star restaurant in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere. It is part of a hotel that looked amazing.
We called into the supermarket for two things for dinner on our way home, but Mick got carried away and bought duck breasts, two trout and 2kg of oysters. After lunch he spent some time opening the oysters with a screwdriver- the only tool he could find. It was pretty windy out there. Note the leaves blowing around him.

Looks like it’s getting colder now, we are just about to have a heat wave for a few days 😳 36 degrees on Friday apparently!
Joe had told us that. I think he and Lita might pop down to cool off on that day. 😎
