Another recommendation from our hostess was this restaurant carved into a cliff on the side of the road between Quillan and our village.

Big mistake in choosing a three course menu by Mick. He ended up passing on dessert as the courses were very large.

The salad with jambon Serrano and dried duck would have done him but then came the entrecôte and frites.

I chose the local trout caught just outside the door (or so he told us) by this gentleman, who boned the fish for me at our table 😀.

Mick thought he’d stumbled on a good find when he chose this French craft beer.

But he selected another one of this brand with berries and citron and was very disappointed.

The cheese platter pulled him up. 😳
However, saying that, we passed by the Bar du Chateau a little closer to home and it was open so of course we pulled up.

Our hostess had told us it was a hippy bar and she was right. Mick did the smart thing straight up and ordered what the local fellows were having – Pastis. They were then very happy to adopt him.

I was freezing in there but one of the locals was trying hard to warm the place up by burning wooden boxes. 🔥

Great story! You should become a professional tour guide.
