Peyrepertuse

Yet another Cathar Castle.

Mick was really hoping it would be closed as it was quite a hike.

We didn’t have as much time today, after having to ensure all our plumbing issues were repaired, but we decided to visit this huge castle. It is bigger than the old city in Carcassonne.

This was a very steep and slippery pathway. The rocks were shiny and damp and I  actually had a nasty fall. Spanish-speaking people came from nowhere to see if I was OK. I know I’ll have a huge bruise but nothing was broken.

Peyrepertuse was occupied since Roman times – from the start of the first century. The Château is built on a limestone ridge, 800m above the vines below.

Guess what this is?

We had run out of time and so could not make this part of Peyrepertuse. The views were amazing.

The trip down was actually easier.

I haven’t told Mick that there are a few more Cathar castles nearby.

An early night tonight. 😴😴😴😴😴

  1. Yes my guess is a toilet with a view. You are certainly having your adventures, what with the fighting cat, the thirsty rodents and the adventurous hikes. Hope the bruises from the slip are not too bad. Also Happy Birthday for the 14th from both of us. Take care Susanne & Steve
