Day 1 Palermo

We left Rome in the rain, and after a short flight of less than an hour, we landed in beautiful sunshine in Sicily.

The Airport Transfer man was there waiting for us with a sign – and drove us in a fancy Mercedes through the outskirts of Palermo, which reminded Mick and I of the coastal port of Volos.

After checking into our apartment, and after Kath and Mick had reviewed the maps, we headed out for some lunch.

We are very close to the main street – Via Roma, and we found a small restaurant in the Plaza San Domenico.

After some discussion we chose this place as it looked perfectly Italian.

Mick was happy once he found us on the map.

We were very close to a small alley market and we wandered through here on our way home.

Mick was very interested in the cards the stall owners were playing. Actually far more interested in what they were doing than they were in trying to sell us anything.

As we had travelled for so long, all we left ourselves to do was to find a supermarket and to head home for a very quiet snack dinner, some Italian red wine and an early night.

Mick reckoned it must be garbage night tonight.

I hope he’s right.
