We have just finished our fourth house sitting assignment on this adventure of a year abroad and are heading to Strasbourg for three nights.

Strasbourg is supposed to be a beautiful city and we are really looking forward to sleeping with each other – minus two cats!! Don’t get me wrong, we really liked the cats, but sleeping with them is not something I would want to get used to.

We are catching a late train from Saint Dié this evening because the home owners weren’t able to return any earlier. They had to drive from Brussels where they went to a concert last night (as one does in Europe).  Of course we could have stayed the night with them, but we always think that the last thing people want when they have just returned from a holiday is to have guests in their home. Instead, we have been able to cook them dinner, and do the linen, and clean the house so that all is ready for them.

Our decision to leave  this evening actually turned out better for them than either they or us realised at the time of our decision. The owner’s mother and friend are expected to arrive about the same time as they get home, and will stay with them for a week or so.

Except for one of the cats going missing for 30 hours, we had no major catastrophes, and have enjoyed our time here very much.

Now, to a week’s holiday!!
