But before they get to Osaka, I need to fill you in a little more on the “best meal ever!!!”
Mick called me the morning after his WhatsApp message from the previous evening to explain why it was the best.

As it was late, well after 10.00pm, when they arrived at their hotel, they dined in one of the six restaurants at their overnight stop.
The meal they selected consisted of courses of very rare lamb, followed by venison and then by wagyu beef; better wagyu than is available in Australia according to Mick. And each course was better than the previous one.
Lucky for both Mick and Bernie – Tom insisted on ‘shouting’ dinner. But unlike his mother, Tom had not ‘practised’ the conversion rates for yen to $AUD. He got a bit of a shock when he got the bill, but Mick assured me it had a lot to do with the saki and whiskeys that were consumed along with the meal. And he was quick to add that it was not him or Bernie drinking those.

The diners looked very serious about the task in front of them.
I was then provided with some photographic evidence to prove that it was the best meal Mick had ever had.
I’m unsure if this is ok in Japan – but it did not stop Mick.
He is usually more well behaved when he is with me!

Before Mick left, I placed an Apple Airtag inside his duffle bag so I could at least track where the bag was if I was ever worried about Mick. I was also keen to see if the tag worked overseas – and I have found out that it does. The Airtag is usually attached to our car keys as we only have one set of them and if we were to lose or misplace them they would cost a pretty penny to replace. And as there is only one Mick, I wanted to make sure I kept track of him too.

Yesterday I checked the Airtag location twice and I could see that his bag had stopped for awhile in or near Nagoya, while they were on the bullet train I guessed, and later in the day it was at the address for the Conrad Hotel in Osaka where the travellers will base themselves for three nights.
I do hope they got a better deal than the price I was quoted online for a room for 2 there tonight – $810AUD. Blimey – I hope Mick does not get too used to travelling in this ‘class’.

The first photo is of the lobby on the 40th Floor, and the other one of the restaurants. Fancy!!
A few days before their departure I had read an article in the Sydney Morning Herald about how to get excellent meals in Japan for an excellent price. The advice was to dine out for lunch as the menu was similar or the same as the evening menu, but usually at half the cost. Mick let me know yesterday that the advice had paid off; it was his turn to ‘shout’ and it cost him less than half of the price for their last meal.
Tom sent me a photo of himself enjoying a glass of rosΓ© with Emma at the Conrad. It was excellent he said.
And then he found out a glass cost $65AUD!!
I am so glad that they only needed something light for dinner!

They definitely are enjoying themselves Jane
Yes indeed π
