We are actually making our way back to wine country, and the township of Margaret River. Beedelup Falls was a nice distance to travel in one day. The weather was drizzling with rain for most of the morning, but thankfully Mick had put his hand up to do the driving today.
Located only a few kilometres out of Denmark, there is a very popular tourist attraction – known for its natural beauty. Green Pools is located on the edge of William Bay. It is thought to be one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches, and on most days the water takes on a green hue. Today, with the rain, it wasn’t at its best, but it was still spectcular.

We spotted a few keen snorkelers braving the cool water temperatures in the shallow green bay. This contrasted to observers wrapped up against the gentle wind and drizzle.
Mick and I had visited this area in December 2021, and there were certainly loads more people in the area than today.

Elephant Rocks are located a few hundred metres around from Green Pools. Mick, Derek and I went off to explore them while Helen stayed dry in the car. Derek had promised Helen he would get some nice photos for her so she did not feel as though she had missed out. I had to take this photo of him to show her just how seriously he took the task.

After morning tea in Walpole (along with loads of other travellers), we headed towards Pemberton and the Gloucester Tree.

The Gloucester Tree was used as a fire lookout in 1947. It was one of eight lookout trees built in the south-west between 1937 and 1952. It is possible to climb it, and while we were there, a few brave souls gave it a go.

The tree is 58 metres high, and I think I made it to about 10 metres above the ground before I reversed down the ladder / spikes, and safely to the ground.
It was a day for National Park sites for us today – and Beedelup Falls was our next stop after we had had lunch in a very nice Pemberton Cafe.

Helen, Derek and Mick were trying to spot some marron in the pooled water alongside the waterfall. There was certainly less water here today than during our last visit.
We could see the accommodation we were booked into for the night from the Beedelup Falls.

Our room felt a little like a cabin on a cruising ship. The view of the lake was beautiful and we were only 50 metres from the Lakeside Restaurant where we dined.
The meal at the restaurant was voted the best of the trip. Derek and Helen had never tried marron before, and it was beautifully cooked and presented. It even included some salt bush fruit.

My morning walk this morning took me around the lake and back to the Beedelup Falls via the Walk Through Tree – which reaches a height of 75 metres.

It really is a spectacular location and we were all glad this stop was on our itinerary.
The weather is brighter today and it should be perfect for our trip to Margaret River. We have a party to go to tonight as well – a farewell party for Edward at the winery he has been working at for the past 6 months. He says he has some interesting wines for us to taste. And we feel as though we are now pretty well equipped to be the judges of that!
Thanks, I love your travels. Big Hug
Thanks Bertha – same to you. x
